Gospel Essentials Granted According to our Desires

Salvation is ultimately a restoration to ones desires while on this earth

·        Alma 15:55 I ought not to harrow up in my desires, the firm decree of a just God, for I know that he granteth unto men according to their desire, whether it be unto death or unto life; yea, I know that he allotteth unto men, yea, decreeth unto them decrees which are unalterable, according to their wills; whether they be unto salvation or unto destruction;

·        Alma 15:56 Yea, and I know that good and evil have come before all men; or he that knoweth not good from evil is blameless; but he that knoweth good and evil, to him it is given according to his desires; whether he desireth good or evil, life or death, joy or remorse of conscience.

·        Alma 19:66 And it is requisite with the justice of God, that men should be judged according to their works; and if their works were good in this life, and the desires of their hearts were good, that they should also, at the last day, be restored unto that which is good;

·        Alma 19:68 The one on the one hand, the other on the other; the one raised to happiness, according to his desires of happiness; or good, according to his desires of good; and the other to evil, according to his desires of evil; for as he has desired to do evil all the day long, even so shall he have his reward of evil, when the night cometh.

Lord Grants According to ones desires

·        1 Nephi 1:47 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, being exceeding young, nevertheless being large in stature, and also having great desires to know of the mysteries of God,

·        1 Nephi 3:39 And the Spirit said unto me, Behold, what desirest thou?

·        1 Nephi 3:48 And he said unto me, What desirest thou?

·        Psalms 10:17 Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble; thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear;

·        Psalms 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

·        Psalms 145:19 He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him; he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

·        I Corinthians 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

Desires can be for the good or the bad

·        Ephesians 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

·        DC 2:2b  for although a man may have many revelations, and have power to do many mighty works, yet, if he boast in his own strength, and sets at naught the counsels of God, and follows after the dictates of his own will and carnal desires, he must fall and incur the vengeance of a just God upon him.

·        DC 10:4a  Verily, verily I say unto you, Even as you desire of me, so shall it be done unto you; and, if you desire you shall be the means of doing much good in this generation.

·        DC 10:8c  and then, behold, according to your desires, yea, even according to your faith, shall it be done unto you.

·        DC 10:10b  then, if you desire, you shall have my Spirit, and my word; yea, the power of God unto the convincing of men;

John the Revelator's Extension of mortality granted because of his desires

·        DC 7:1a  And the Lord said unto me, John, my beloved, what desirest thou? For if ye shall ask what you will, it shall be granted unto you.

·        DC 7:1c  And the Lord said unto me, Verily, verily I say unto thee, because thou desirest this thou shalt tarry until I come in my glory , and shalt prophesy before nations, kindreds, tongues, and people.

·        DC 7:2a  And for this cause the Lord said unto Peter, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? For he desiredst of me that he might bring souls unto me; but thou desiredst that thou might speedily come unto me in my kingdom.

·        DC 7:2b  I say unto thee, Peter, this was a good desire, but my beloved has desired that he might do more, or a greater work yet among men, than what he has before done; yea, he has undertaken a greater work;

·        DC 7:3  Verily I say unto you, Ye shall both have according to your desires, for ye both joy in that which ye have desired.

You can be baptized for desiring

·        7a And again by way of commandment to the church concerning the manner of baptism:

·        7b All those who humble themselves before God and desire to be baptized, and come forth with  broken  hearts and contrite) spirits, and witness before the church that they have truly repented of all their sins,

·        7c and are willing to take upon them the name of Jesus Christ, having a determination to serve him to the end,

·        7d and truly manifest by their works that they have received of the Spirit of Christ unto the remission of their sins,) shall be received by baptism into  his church.

Temporal Blessings Lost in Church History for wrong Desires

·        DC 98:3a  Behold, I say unto you, there were jarrings, and contentions, and envyings, and strifes, and lustful and covetous desires among them; therefore by these things they polluted their inheritances.
