This week we
continued discussing 'Judgment' from the scriptures point of view.
It's not just for condemnation, but for righteousness to be established. Jesus says he will be lifted up—for what reason? John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. 3 Nephi 12:26 And my Father sent me that I might
be lifted up upon the cross; and after that I had been lifted up upon
the cross, I might draw all men unto me: 3 Nephi 12:27 That as I have been lifted up by
men, even so should men be lifted up by the Father, to stand
before me, to be judged of their works, whether they be good or whether
they be evil; 3 Nephi 12:28 And for this cause have I been
lifted up; therefore, according to the power of the Father, I will draw
all men unto me, that they may be judged according to their works.
Alma 19:79 Yea, ye shall have mercy restored
unto you again; ye shall have justice restored unto you again; ye
shall have a righteous judgment restored unto you again; Helaman 5:84 And this to the intent that
whosoever will believe, might be saved, and that whosoever will not
believe, a righteous judgment might come upon them: and also if they
are condemned, they bring upon themselves their own condemnation. Why will we be judged? (for condemnation only?) Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 2 Nephi 15:17 And you that will not partake of the goodness of God, and respect the words of the Jews, and also my words, and the words which shall proceed forth out of the mouth of the Lamb of God, behold, I bid you an everlasting farewell, for these words shall condemn you at the last day; What is the Pattern for Judgment? Numbers 35:30 Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses; but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die. Matthew 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. II Corinthians 13:1 This is the third time I am coming
to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word
be established. I Timothy 5:19 Against an elder receive not an
accusation, but before two or three witnesses. Hebrews 10:28 He that despised Moses' law died
without mercy under two or three witnesses; DC 6:13b and in the mouth of two or three
witnesses, shall every word be established. (What are our two or three ‘witnesses?’ Bible, Book of Mormon, D & C) For What will we be judged? Revelation 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them; and they were judged every man according to their works. Revelation
22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with
me to give every man according as his work shall be. By What
Criteria?
Romans 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law; and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (i.e. Will be judged by what ever law you were born under) By Whom?
1 Nephi 3:116 Wherefore, the twelve ministers of thy seed shall be judged of them; for ye are of the house of Israel; and these twelve ministers whom thou beholdest, shall judge thy seed. Mormon 1:83 Yea, behold, I write unto all the ends of the earth; yea, unto you, twelve tribes of Israel, who shall be judged according to your works, by the twelve whom Jesus chose to be his disciples in the land of Jerusalem. Offences?
Alma 9:22 Then if our hearts have been hardened, yea, if we have hardened our hearts against the word, insomuch that it has not been found in us, then will our state be awful, for then we shall be condemned; Alma 9:23 For our words will condemn us, yea, all our works will condemn us; we shall not be found spotless: Alma 9:24 And our thoughts will also condemn us; and in this awful state, we shall not dare look up to our God; Jude 1:15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. ‘Appeal’ Their ‘sentence’ if found guilty?
2 Nephi 1:23 Behold, I say, If the day shall come that they will reject the Holy One of Israel, the true Messiah, their Redeemer and their God, behold, the judgments of him that is just, shall rest upon them; Alma 8:101 And we shall be brought to stand before God, knowing even as we know now, and have a bright recollection of all our guilt. Mosiah 1:83 Therefore, if that man repenteth not, and remaineth and dieth an enemy to God, the demands of divine justice doth awaken his immortal soul to a lively sense of his own guilt, Mosiah 1:84 Which doth cause him to shrink from the presence of the Lord, and doth fill his breast with guilt, and pain, and anguish, which is like an unquenchable fire, whose flames ascendeth up for ever and ever. when ye shall be brought to see your nakedness before God, and also the
glory of God, and the holiness of Jesus Christ, it will kindle a flame

without God in the world, that the judgment of an everlasting punishment
is just upon them; For what
Reward?
Mosiah 1:106 And behold, all these things are done, that a righteous judgement might come upon the children of men. Alma 19:79 Yea, ye shall have mercy restored unto you again; ye shall have justice restored unto you again; ye shall have a righteous judgment restored unto you again; Luke 12:8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of Man also confess before the angels of God. Why are we to be righteous in our judgments in this lifetime? Moroni 7:17 And now, my brethren, seeing that ye know the light by which ye may judge, which light is the light of Christ, see that ye do not judge wrongfully; for with that same judgment which ye judge, ye shall also be judged. Matthew 7:3 For with what judgment ye shall judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. How are we
to judge? Matthew 7:2 Judge not unrighteously, that ye be
not judged; but judge righteous judgment. Matthew 7:3 For with what judgment ye shall
judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be
measured to you again. James 4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able
to save and to destroy; who art thou that judgest another? Why did John record this, and also this? John 5:30 And shall all be judged of the Son of Man. For as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just; I Corinthians 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? What will
people say and do that REJECT the Light of Christ? John 3:20 For every one who doeth evil
hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be
reproved. Alma 17:13 O, thought I, that I could be
banished and become extinct both soul and body, that I might not be
brought to stand in the presence of my God, to be judged of my deeds. Mosiah 11:197 Yea, even at the last day, when all
men shall stand to be judged of him, then shall they confess that he
is God; Mosiah 11:198 Then shall they confess, who live
without God in the world, that the judgment of an everlasting
punishment is just upon them;
What will
people say and do that ACCEPT the Light of Christ? John 3:21 But he who loveth truth, cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest.
