Communion Parallels Passover.

Today in class we continued to discussed A Few Passover/Communion Parallels.  Click Here for the Previous week's discussion.

I Corinthians 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us;

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and said; Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world!

Old Testament New Testament
No Bones Broken...
Exodus 12:46 In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth aught of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof. John 19:36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
Without Blemish (i.e. sin)
Exodus 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year; ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats; I Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot;
Without Sin...
Exodus 34:25 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning. (no sin)

I Corinthians 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us;

II Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Hebrews 7:26 And not as those high priests who offered up sacrifice daily, first for their own sins, and then for the sins of the people; for he needeth not offer sacrifice for his own sins, for he knew no sins; but for the sins of the people.

Was A Male...
Exodus 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year;

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder;

Matthew 2:6 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, (which, being interpreted, is, God with us.)
Of Its Body, We Shall Partake...
Exodus 12:8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. John 6:51 But I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

John 6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

No Stranger to Partake...without first making covenant.
Exodus 12:48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land; for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.

Exodus 12:43 And the Lord said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover; there shall no stranger eat thereof;

Exodus 29:33 And they shall eat those things wherewith the atonement was made; to consecrate and to sanctify them; but a stranger shall not eat thereof, because they are holy.

I Corinthians 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

I Corinthians 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh condemnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

Also Supported in Book of Mormon...

3 Nephi 8:61 Therefore if ye know that a man is unworthy to eat and drink of my flesh and blood, ye shall forbid him; nevertheless ye shall not cast him out from among you, but ye shall minister unto him, and shall pray for him unto the Father, in my name, 62 And if it so be that he repenteth, and is baptized in my name, then shall ye receive him, and shall minister unto him of my flesh and blood;

4 Nephi 1:29 And it came to pass that when two hundred and ten years had passed away, there were many churches in the land; yea, there were many churches which professed to know the Christ, and yet they did deny the more part of his gospel, insomuch that they did receive all manner of wickedness, and did administer that which was sacred unto him to whom it had been forbidden, because of unworthiness.
