Zarahemla is like the promised land for the Nephites

Two groups of people.  Both removed from the Center place.

One left because of:

Omni 1: 48 And now, I would speak somewhat concerning a certain number who went up into the wilderness, to return to the land of Nephi:
49 For there was a large number who were desirous to possess the land of their inheritance; wherefore, they went up into the wilderness.
50 And their leader being a strong and a mighty man, and a stiff- necked man, wherefore he caused a contention among them; and they were all slain, save fifty, in the wilderness, and they returned again to the land of Zarahemla.

(Account is in Mosiah 6)

The other left because trying to find them who went to dwell in land of Lehi-Nephi, led by Ammon.

Finds Limhi, son of Noah, who was the son of Zenniff.  These were in bondage half of their possessions.

Mosiah 5:

Limhi says:

Mosiah 5:31 And behold, it is because of our iniquities and abominations, that has brought us into bondage.

Pay tribute of  half of possessions (Mosiah 5:35-36)

Had not been evil, would not have suffered this to come upon them:  Mos 5:41

A prophet have they slain  Mosiah 5:43-45.

Both fall into captivity—one for trangressions.

The other because the Lord would prove that stand as witnesses.

Mosiah 11:62 And this will I do, that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.

  1. United together—

Omni 1:34 And it came to pass that the people of Zarahemla, and of Mosiah, did unite together; and Mosiah was appointed to be their king.

Mosiah 11:12 And now I say unto you, ye have been oppressed by King Noah, and have been in bondage to him and his priests, and have been brought into iniquity by them; therefore ye were bound with the bands of iniquity.

Mosiah 6:  Zeniff

Mosiah 6:6 And yet, I being overzealous to inherit the land of our fathers, collected as many as were desirous to go up to possess the land, and started again on our journey into the wilderness, to go up to the land; but we were smitten with famine and sore afflictions; for we were slow to remember the Lord our God.

Nevertheless were righteous.   Pact with Lamanites—King of Lamanites was uneasy about the new comers.  Stirs up his people, but the Nephites had the strength of the Lord.

Mos 6:20-21—had strength of the Lord

Chpt 7:  Noah and Abinadi

Mos 7:21  Wine bibber, lazy, idolatrous

Warning from God through Abinadi:  Mos 7:35

Mos 9:133—Are not Abinadi’s words fulfilled?

Mos 9:150—were the agressors to the Lamanites are were defeated.

Mos 9:155-6—did finally humble themselves and submit to the Lord, repenting.

DELIVERY DID NOT COME UNTIL THEY REPENTED

(Chronologically correct) Ammon declares to put trust in the Lord  God of Abraham, Mosiah 5:28 Therefore, lift up your heads, and rejoice, and put your trust in God, in that God who was the God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob;

Limhi’s people Desire to be baptized:  Mos 9:176-77

ALMA:

Loved the Lord:  Mos 11:20

Mos 11:

22 And it came to pass that they did multiply and prosper exceedingly in the land of Helam; and they built a city, which they called the city of Helam.
23 Nevertheless the Lord seeth fit to chasten his people; yea, he trieth their patience and their faith.
24 Nevertheless, whosoever putteth his trust in him, the same shall be lifted up at the last day.
25 Yea, and thus it was with this people.
26 For behold, I will shew unto you that they were brought into bondage, and none could deliver them but the Lord their God; yea, even the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob.
27 And it came to pass that he did deliver them, and he did shew forth his mighty power unto them, and great were their rejoicings.
