New Series:

The Call at Evening.

Over the next several weeks, we will cover the scriptural outlines which are presented in the book 'The Call at Evening.'  Below is an outline of scriptures presented within the text, comprising a discussion of the Work of Christ vs. The Work of Satan

Lesson #2:  What happens to Death and Hell?

If unbelievers go to hell, are they burning in a lake of fire until Christ gets them out?

The hell, or prison house, in which captive spirits are confined between death and the resurrection is a place separate and apart from the hell spoken of as a lake of fire.

Revelation 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them; and they were judged every man according to their works.

Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

We learn two things:

1.        Death and hell will deliver up the dead that are in them

2.        Death and hell will be cast into the lake of fire.

Therefore, hell and the lake of fire are not the same place right now.

Is it a literal lake of fire?  Can’t say.  Could be literal, could be figurative.

Will anyone besides the devil and his angels have to go there?

                (son’s of perdition)

How, then, can Christ be the Savior of all men?

Answer= Christ will have saved them once.  This is where sin against the Holy Ghost comes in.  If we have accepted Christ, and turn from him and deny, there is no hope of a second salvation.

Hebrews 6:4 For he hath made it impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

Hebrews 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to be renewed again unto repentance; seeing they crucify unto themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

If one deliberately denies after having had not just a belief but a knowledge, and one deliberately denies that message the Holy Ghost has given him, he has no further claim on Christ.  He must go down with the Devil and his angels, to whose level he has fallen.  This number in history has been very few.

Do the spirits in prison greatly suffer before Christ comes to them with his message?  (Bible doesn’t say, BOM and DC offer more).

Bible does imply, however, that there are degrees of hell:

Psalms 86:13 For great is thy mercy toward me; and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

What is knowledge but revelation?
