Last week, reviewed
who is the church by Jesus’ words in the Book of Mormon. Defines worthiness for
communion, according to the Book of Mormon.
Two items mentioned, among many others, in 3 Nephi
13.
1: 3 Nephites, transformed, then set to do a work
among the Gentiles
3
Nephi 13:44 Yea, even among the Gentiles shall there be a great and
marvelous work wrought by them, before that judgment day.
3 Nephites will be among the Gentiles, Jews and lost
tribes in the latter days, and a significant purpose will be
accomplished by them, that we don’t know of.
2: Summary
of promise to Joseph, Judah
3
Nephi 13:61 Yea, and ye need not any longer hiss, nor spurn, nor make game of the Jews,
nor any of the remnant of the house of Israel, for behold the Lord
remembereth his covenant unto them, and he will do unto them according
to that which he hath sworn;
Once again, the Lord uses his writers to remind us of
His covenant to the House of Israel.
Main Class Topic: Jesus and Judgment
Jesus says he will be
lifted up—for what reason?
John
3:14 And as Moses lifted
up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted
up;
John
12:32 And I, if I be
lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
3
Nephi 12:26 And my Father sent me that I might be lifted
up upon the cross; and after that I had been lifted up upon the cross, I
might draw all men unto me:
3
Nephi 12:27 That as I have been lifted up by men, even so
should men be lifted up by the Father, to stand before me, to be
judged of their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil;
3
Nephi 12:28 And for this cause have I been lifted up;
therefore, according to the power of the Father, I will draw all men
unto me, that they may be judged according to their works.
Alma
19:79
Yea, ye shall have mercy restored unto you again; ye shall have justice
restored unto you again; ye shall have a righteous judgment restored
unto you again;
Helaman
5:84
And this to the intent that whosoever will believe, might be saved,
and that whosoever will not believe, a righteous judgment might come
upon them: and also if they are condemned, they bring upon
themselves their own condemnation.
Why will we be
judged? (for condemnation only?)
Helaman
5:84 And this to the
intent that whosoever will believe, might be saved, and that whosoever
will not believe, a righteous judgment might come upon them: and also if
they are condemned, they bring upon themselves their own condemnation.
Mosiah
1:106 And behold, all
these things are done, that a righteous judgement might come upon the
children of men.
Alma
19:79 Yea, ye shall have
mercy restored unto you again; ye shall have justice restored unto you
again; ye shall have a righteous judgment restored unto you again;

things are written by the Father; therefore out of the books which shall
be written, shall the world be judged.

according to the words which are written;
Words
of Mormon 1:17 (speaking of the plates) And I know that they will be preserved:

their brethren, shall be judged at the great and last day, according to
the word of God which is written.
Revelation
20:12 And I saw the dead,
small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened; and
another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were
judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to
their works.
2
Nephi 15:17 And you that will not partake of the goodness of God, and respect the
words of the Jews, and also my words, and the words which shall proceed
forth out of the mouth of the Lamb of God, behold, I bid you an
everlasting farewell, for these words shall condemn you at the last
day;

which were in them; and they were judged every man according to their
works.

quickly; and my reward is with me to give every man according as his
work shall be.
By What Criteria?

sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (i.e. Will be judged by
what ever law you were born under)

for ye are of the house of Israel; and these twelve ministers whom thou
beholdest, shall judge thy seed.

unto all the ends of the earth; yea, unto you, twelve tribes of Israel,
who shall be judged according to your works, by the twelve whom Jesus
chose to be his disciples in the land of Jerusalem.
Mormon
1:84 And I write also
unto the remnant of this people, who shall also be judged by the
twelve whom Jesus chose in this land; and they shall be judged by the
other twelve whom Jesus chose in the land of Jerusalem.

judged of the Son of Man. For as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is
just;
II
Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who

For What Offences?

Then if
our hearts have been hardened, yea, if we have hardened our hearts
against the word, insomuch that it has not been found in us, then
will our state be awful, for then we shall be condemned;
Alma
9:23
For
our words will condemn us, yea, all our works will condemn us; we
shall not be found spotless:
Alma
9:24
And our
thoughts will also condemn us; and in this awful state, we shall not
dare look up to our God;

ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly
committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have
spoken against him.

1:87 And ye must stand to
be judged of your works, whether they be good or evil; and also that ye
may believe the gospel of Jesus Christ, which ye shall have among you;
Mosiah
2:49 But this much I can
tell you, that if ye do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts, and
your words, and your deeds, and observe to keep the commandments of God,
and continue in the faith of what ye have heard concerning the coming of
our Lord, even unto the end of your lives, ye must perish.

found guilty?
2

the day shall come that they will reject the Holy One of Israel, the

that is just, shall rest upon them;

And we shall be brought to stand before God, knowing even as we know
now, and have a bright recollection of all our guilt.
Mosiah
1:83
Therefore, if that man repenteth not, and remaineth and dieth an enemy
to God, the demands of divine justice doth awaken his immortal soul to a
lively sense of his own guilt,
Mosiah
1:84
Which doth cause him to shrink from the presence of the Lord, and doth
fill his breast with guilt, and pain, and anguish, which is like an
unquenchable fire, whose flames ascendeth up for ever and ever.
Mosiah
1:127
And if they be evil, they are consigned to an awful view of their own
guilt and abominations, which doth cause them to shrink from the
presence of the Lord, into a state of misery and endless torment, from
whence they can no more return: therefore, they have drunk damnation to
their own souls.
Mormon
4:61 Do ye suppose that ye shall dwell with him under a
consciousness of your guilt? 62
Do ye suppose that ye could be happy to dwell with that holy being, when
your souls are racked with a consciousness of your guilt that ye have
ever abused his laws? 63 Behold I
say unto you, that ye would be more miserable to dwell with a holy and
just God, under a consciousness of your filthiness before him, than ye
would to dwell with the damned souls in hell. 64 For behold, when ye shall be brought to
see your nakedness before God, and also the glory of God, and the
holiness of Jesus Christ, it will kindle a flame of unquenchable fire
upon you.
Mosiah

judgment ye shall judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye

judge righteous judgment.

judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you

just;
I

shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
